Fabrication
Once the template is signed off, your chosen slab is cut, profiled and finished to match the room exactly.
Fabrication is where the measured template becomes a physical worktop. The slab is cut to the recorded shape, the cut-outs for sinks, hobs and taps are machined, and the visible edges are worked to your chosen profile.
Edge profiles range from a simple square or pencil-round through to bevel, bullnose and ogee. The profile is finished and polished so the edge matches the face of the slab.
Material behaviour is respected at this stage. Natural granite is sealed; engineered quartz is non-porous and needs no sealing; sintered porcelain is worked with the tooling its hardness requires. Where a worktop runs longer than a single slab, joints are planned at sensible positions and finished to sit tight.
What happens in the workshop
- Slab cut to the templated shape
- Sink, hob, tap and socket cut-outs machined
- Edge profile worked and polished
- Granite sealed; quartz and porcelain finished to material
- Joints planned and finished on longer runs
